DEP 2016

On December 7th the German developer award took place in Cologne. We were there and congratulated all the nominees and winners of the evening.

Following prizes went to Bavaria:

– Ludamus / Cubiverse: 1. Platz Newcomer Award
– Mimimi Productions / Shadow Tactics: Bestes deutsches Spiel
– Mimimi Productions / Shadow Tactics: Bestes PC-/Konsolen-Spiel

Also, we were happy about our initiative of the federal states to present ourselves to the industry and not just supporting the DEP but also to plan for further projects.

X-Mas Pitching

For the third time, our pitching party took place at the WERK1. It was great, not just because of the chocolate fountain. Many thanks to all the teams who were on stage and all who celebrated with us!

GameConnection EU

This year, for the first time, a game event was officially launched and supported by Bayern International. With a small but fine group we could visit the Gameconnection. Representatives of Bayern International, FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, WERK1, Games/Bavaria, KlonkGames, remote Control and TeamSpeak were present.

Grill & GameJam

On Saturday, October 1st, our Grill & GameJam took place for the first time. During 8 hours over 30 participants had to develop a game with the topic “fire & flame”.

Super Geek Night

For the third time, on August 27th the Super Geek Night in the Munich heppened. Games/Bavaria supported not only the event with a sponsorship of the Games/BARvaria, but also local companies were able to present their games.

Gamescom 2016

As last year, Games/Bavaria hosted the Bavarian Community Booth in the Gamescom Business Area. 11 companies were part of the booth and like the years before we provided a high class Bavarian like presence, this year in form of a small beer garden.

The Bavarian breakfast reception was highly frequented and the guests were welcomed by Robin Hartmann of WERK1, Daniel Curio of the Bavarian Ministry of Economics, Siegfried Schneider of the BLM (Bayerische Landeszentrale für neue Medien) and Johannes Roth of GBM e.V.

Respawn Gathering

For the second time, Games/Bavaria was sponsoring the Respawn Gathering. The Respawn is one of the Industry Conferences taking place in Cologne 2 days before the Gamescom. In contrast to other conferences there are no separate rooms for the talks, instead you receive headphones and can switch between the talks you are interested in on the fly.

And as usual we braught the “real” Bavarian beer with us =)

FFF Trekkingtour – Road to VR

For the fifth time the FFF-Bayern invited the bavarian games developers and publishers to spend a day in the alps.

The tour took place at “Blomberg” on July 20th.

Gamecamp Munich

The Game Camp Munich is a BarCamp on Games.

Our visitors hold and listen to lectures on the development of video games, design, games jornalism and many other topics that can be linked to games.

Well, as it is a BarCamp there is no fixed program in advance.

All participants are allowed to give a talk, when and where your talk takes place will be decided during the planning session in the morning.

Our main sponsor this year was Teamspeak and our location sponsor was the Mediadesign University Munich.

Games/Bavaria Vernissage

The Games/Bavaria Vernissage is like a showcase for Bavarian game developer. It’s also the opening for the two-week artwork exhibition at the WERK1 Café (and the secretly kick-off event of the Gamecamp Munich).

Deutscher Computerspielpreis

On 07. April 2016, the ninth German Computer Game Award was held in Munich at the BMW Welt.

“It happens tomorrow” – The Community Event to the DCP

Like the last time the DCP took place in Munich, we had the pleasure to organize the accompanying event on the previous day of the gala.

This time the youtuber of PietSmiet and several guests played selected nominated titles of the DCP.

Over 140.000 watched the event online and about 300 local viewers were at the HFF in Munich.

Games/Bavaria Happy Hour @ GDC

For the fourth time the Games/Bavaria Happy Hour took place during the GDC in San Francisco. Over 100 guests came to enjoy networking and Bavarian beer at the Pin Up.

The event was organized by Teamspeak, WERK1 and Invest in Bavaria.

Global Game Jam Munich

The Global Game Jam (GGJ) is the world’s largest game jam event (game creation) taking place around the world at physical locations. Think of it as a hackathon focused on game development. It is the growth of an idea that in today’s heavily connected world, we could come together, be creative, share experiences and express ourselves in a multitude of ways using video games – it is very universal.
