Games/Bavaria sees itself as an umbrella brand that supports the activities of the games sector in Bavaria and consolidates government initiatives – the central hub for founders, creative minds, games manufacturers and interested parties. The three major goals of Games/Bavaria:

Funding (FFF)

Games/Bavaria conveys contacts to funding institutions in Bavaria. In this context the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern (FFF Bayern) (Film and Television Fund Bavaria) as part of the media funding on the Free State of Bavaria must be mentioned primarily. The FFF Bayern funds festivals, film and television productions, young talent initiatives and virtual reality formats as well as games. Games studios can request funds for the development of concepts and prototypes as well as the subsequent production. Individual projects can receive a subsidy of up to 500,000 Euros. In 2018 the FFF Bayern provided a funding amount of 1.9 million Euros.

The WERK1 is the hotspot for the digital economy and the games industry in Munich. The founder centre has, thanks to its central location in the industrial quarter at the Ostbahnhof, ideal transport connections. With offices and co-working workplaces, lounge area and assembly rooms on about 4000 m2 WERK1 has, since its opening in 2013, become the ecosystem for creative minds, developers and young entrepreneurs. Within the scope of public meetups and workshops prominent guest speakers can be experienced in WERK1 throughout the year. The WERK1 is funded by the Ministry of Economics and the home of the Games/Bavaria team.


Media network Bavaria

The Media Network Bavaria sees itself as a networker and informer for media professionals and media companies in Bavaria. The media region Bavaria is supported by the coordination and funding of cross-sector projects and events. Students and start-ups, freelancers and creative minds, small and large businesses should view themselves as participants. The MedienNetzwerk (media network) Bavaria is a partnership between the Free State of Bavaria, the Bavarian chamber of commerce (BHIK), the Bavarian broadcasting company (BR), the Bavarian state central for new media (BLM), FilmFernsehFonds Bayern (FFF Bayern), MedienCampus Bayern e.V. and vbw – Vereinigung der Bayerischen Wirtschaft (Association of the Bavarian Economy).


Games Bavaria Munich e.V.

The Games Bavaria Munich e.V. represents the interests of the developers located in Bavaria vis á vis politics, businesses and society. Its mission: Optimise regional conditions, support regional training possibilities and improve the networking between politics and industry. An additional declared objective of the three managing directors Johannes Roth, Lars Janssen and Hendrik Lesser: easier access to federal, national and international funding.

In cooperation with Games/Bavaria, Invest in Bavaria provides figures and information on the market environment, conveys contacts, helps with tax and legal questions and consolidates an overview of the regional funding and financing possibilities. Invest in Bavaria is an initiative of the Bavarian Ministry of Economics, Energy and Technology. Bavarian State Chancellery

Under the political guidance of the Bavarian State Chancellery the people of Bavaria are creating their digital future. The BAYERN DIGITAL (Bavaria digital) strategy includes investments of about 6 billion Euros and defines concrete measures and clear focus items on the core themes of digitalisation up to the year 2022. The Bavarian State Chancellery puts its media and digitalisation mission into practice via its initiatives Games/Bavaria and the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern The Free State of Bavaria wants to expand the games region in Bavaria and welcomes the games industry.
